Syngenta Ekalux contains Quinalphos 25% EC, an IRAC Group 1B organophosphate insecticide with contact and stomach action. It is registered for specified chewing and sucking pests in rice and other labelled crops. Use the exact crop-specific dose and PHI from the current Ekalux pack.
Item description
Syngenta Ekalux Insecticide Overview
Syngenta Ekalux contains Quinalphos 25% EC. It is a broad-use organophosphate insecticide with contact and stomach action against the specified crop pests on its Indian registration.
Use note: Do not use one general per-acre dose. Rates and harvest intervals vary greatly by crop and pest. The current Ekalux pack is the controlling source, especially for red gram where published PHI tables conflict.
Key Product Benefits
- Contact and stomach action: Controls susceptible pests through spray contact and ingestion.
- Broad registered spectrum: Label uses include selected hoppers, borers, caterpillars, thrips, mites and scale insects.
- Rice pest range: Separate labelled rates cover BPH, hispa, leaf folder and stem borer.
- IRAC Group 1B: Acetylcholinesterase inhibition provides fast nerve-system activity.
- Store options: 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 L variants.

How Ekalux Works
Quinalphos inhibits acetylcholinesterase in susceptible insects, causing acetylcholine to accumulate at nerve junctions. This disrupts normal nerve signalling, leading to paralysis and death. It should not be described as systemic.
India Label: Registered Crop–Pest Scope
Registered crop–pest pairs include: rice—brown planthopper, hispa/blue beetle, leaf folder and stem borer; sorghum—mite and shoot fly; wheat—aphid, earhead caterpillar and mites; Bengal gram—pod borer; red gram—pod borer and pod fly; chilli—aphid and mites; cardamom—thrips; groundnut—leafhopper, thrips and leaf miner; mustard—sawfly; citrus—scale and citrus butterfly; cauliflower—stem borer; soybean—leaf weevil; and tea—thrips.
| Rice target | Dose | Water | PHI |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brown planthopper | 1500 ml/ha | 500–1000 L/ha | 40 days |
| Hispa / blue beetle | 2000 ml/ha | 500–1000 L/ha | 40 days |
| Leaf folder | 1000 ml/ha | 500–1000 L/ha | 40 days |
| Stem borer | 1300 ml/ha | 500–1000 L/ha | 40 days |
Tea has a current 7-day PHI. For every other crop, use the exact pack rate and PHI; do not infer them from the rice table.
Application Guide
- Monitor the crop and spray only at the label threshold or timing for the intended pest.
- Add measured EC to the partly filled tank, top up and agitate for a uniform emulsion.
- Use a calibrated high-volume foliar sprayer and cover the pest habitat evenly.
- Observe crop-specific PHI and rotate with an effective insecticide from another IRAC group.
Safety and Stewardship
- Organophosphate pesticide: wear full label-specified protective equipment and avoid inhalation or skin contact.
- Highly hazardous to aquatic organisms; keep spray, runoff and wash water away from waterways and aquaculture.
- Protect bees and birds by avoiding active foraging periods and habitats specified on the pack.
- In suspected exposure, seek medical help immediately and take the container/label.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ekalux systemic?
No systemic claim is used; the supported description is contact and stomach action.
Why are only rice doses shown?
Rice rates are precisely verified here. Other crop rates vary and must be taken from the current pack.
Can the rice rate be used on red gram or tea?
No. Every crop–pest pair has its own label directions and PHI.
