Amistar - Azoxystrobin 23% SC - Syngenta

Syngenta Amistar is an Azoxystrobin 23% SC systemic fungicide (FRAC Group 11) for label-approved management of grape downy and powdery mildew, mango anthracnose and powdery mildew, chilli fruit rot and powdery mildew, tomato early and late blight, and potato late blight. Apply at 1 ml/L with thorough canopy coverage, observe the crop-specific PHI and 24-hour re-entry, and rotate with a registered non-Group-11 fungicide.

Item description

Syngenta Amistar Azoxystrobin 23% SC Systemic Fungicide

Amistar is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide containing Azoxystrobin 23% w/w in a suspension-concentrate formulation.

Azoxystrobin is a QoI fungicide in FRAC Group 11. It inhibits fungal mitochondrial respiration and energy production. Indian label uses inspected for this page cover specified diseases in grapes, mango, potato, tomato and chilli. Amistar is most appropriately positioned preventively or at the first sign of disease, with thorough crop-canopy coverage and a resistance-management plan.

Why Choose Amistar?

  • Label-approved broad spectrum: Registered uses include selected mildews, anthracnose, fruit rot and blights across five crops.
  • Systemic activity: Azoxystrobin moves within treated plant tissue and inhibits fungal respiration.
  • Preventive and early-disease positioning: Apply before heavy disease establishment or when symptoms are first observed.
  • SC formulation: Liquid suspension concentrate for dilution and foliar application.
  • Crop-specific directions: The label provides exact dose, water volume and pre-harvest interval for each registered use.

How It Works

Azoxystrobin blocks electron transfer at the Qo site of the fungal cytochrome bc1 complex. This interrupts mitochondrial respiration and reduces the energy available for spore germination and fungal development. Group 11 fungicides are high resistance risk and show cross-resistance within the group, so Amistar should not be used repeatedly without rotation.

  1. Deposition: Foliar spray forms a treated zone across the crop canopy.
  2. Respiration inhibition: Azoxystrobin interferes with fungal energy production at the Qo site.
  3. Disease management: Early or preventive treatment suppresses susceptible pathogens before heavy infection develops.

Syngenta's branded mixing guidance is 1 ml/L using a minimum of 200 L water/acre. The crop-specific table and current pack label take priority.

Application Guide

  • Timing: Apply when disease is first observed or preventively where disease risk is known.
  • Frequency: The inspected label provides 2–3 sprays at 7–14-day intervals according to need and label limits.
  • Coverage: Use calibrated equipment and enough water for thorough canopy coverage.
  • Conditions: Avoid spraying above 30°C, during afternoon heat, at crop maturity or immediately before harvest.
  • No unverified crops: Rice, wheat and broad “all vegetables” claims are not included in this table.
  • No tank-mix recommendation: Use Amistar as directed. Any alternative shown in recommendations is a standalone choice governed by its own label.

Resistance Management

FRAC classifies Group 11 as high resistance risk, with cross-resistance among Group-11 fungicides. Use preventively or very early, avoid repeated Group-11-only sprays, stay within label limits and alternate with a separately registered fungicide from a non-Group-11 mode of action that covers the same crop and disease. Integrate resistant varieties, sanitation, canopy management and disease monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What FRAC group is Amistar?
Azoxystrobin is FRAC Group 11, not an IRAC insecticide group.

2. Is Amistar registered for rice or wheat?
Those crops are not included in the approved-use table used for this page.

3. What is the branded mixing rate?
Syngenta states 1 ml/L with at least 200 L water/acre; also follow the crop-specific registered dose and water volume.

4. What is the potato PHI?
For potato late blight, the waiting period is 12 days.

5. Can Group 11 be sprayed repeatedly?
Avoid repeated Group-11 exposure. Rotate with a registered non-Group-11 option for the same crop and disease.

Safety & Environmental Care

Read and follow the current label. Wear gloves, protective clothing, mask, goggles and boots; avoid skin, eye and inhalation exposure. Do not eat, drink or smoke while handling. Azoxystrobin is toxic to honeybees and aquatic organisms, so avoid bee-foraging periods and keep spray, drift and runoff away from water bodies and aquaculture. Wash exposed skin and contaminated clothing after use. Store locked in the original container away from children, food, heat and flame. No specific antidote is known; treatment is symptomatic and supportive.
